Aiming to increase access to higher education, Tarleton State University has announced the expansion of its Tarleton Promise Program to the institution’s Fort Worth campus, giving eligible first-year students the opportunity to attend free of tuition and fees.

The University of Texas System has announced an expansion of its financial aid program, offering free tuition and waived fees to undergraduate students whose families earn less than $100,000 annually. This initiative, set to begin in the fall of 2025, aims to open the doors of higher education to a broader segment of the population, particularly those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

The decision was approved by the UT System Board of Regents in a meeting held on November 20, 2024. The expansion of the Promise Plus Program, which previously covered tuition for families making up to $65,000, now extends its reach, potentially impacting thousands of students across all nine academic institutions within the UT System. This includes flagship campuses like UT Austin and emerging universities like UT Dallas and UT Arlington.
